MicroMol develops avian cell lines

Salmonellosis and even stronger campylobacteriosis are of increasing concern. 

Traditionally research in this area is done on animals which is undesirable due to the high numbers of animals necessary to show reliable results and the corresponding high costs.

MicroMol developed serveral hundreds of different cell lines from chicken's gut to facilitate research on the invasion of pathogenic organisms into the gut cells.

This will allow for screenings to identify probiotic bacteria or feed additives as well as antibiotics and drugs.

Research granted by the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
