Thus HB 101 carries about 10 % of the B strain chromosome. Its genotype is F- leuB6 proA2 recA13 thi1 ara14 lacY1 galK2 xyl5 mtl1 rpsL20 supE44 hsdS20 lambda- rB-mB-. HB101 deviates to a big extend from the prototypic K12 strain W3110. On the other hand HB 101 was the basis for the construction of many contemporary laboratory strains.
