TCEP solution, 0.5 M buffered

TCEP (Tris(2-carboxyethyl)phosphine hydrochloride) is an odourless reducing agent with high reactivity over the range of ph 2 - 11.
We supply it as a 0,5 M solution buffered to pH 7.0. Use it at a concentration of 5-50 mM for the reduction of your proteins e.g. for electrophoresis.

TCEP has several advantages compared with DTT and mercaptoethanol
Odorless - do your colleagues and yourself a favour.
Specific – selective and complete reduction of even the most stable water-soluble disulfides.
Simple – effective reduction at room temperature and pH 5 in less than five minutes.
Stable – resistant to air oxidation and pH.

Since TCEP is very hydrophilic, it is not recommended for the reduction of disulfides in the hydrophobic core of proteins unless they are denatured (e.g. by SDS or heat).
